Sand Point, Alaska

Sand Point on Popof Island in the Shumagin Islands is the main service center for the outer Alaska Peninsula. The Sandman Reefs offshore are legendary for Pacific halibut, Pacific cod (some of the finest in Alaska), and salmon. Brown bear and caribou hunting are available on the surrounding Alaska Peninsula. Alaska Airlines provides jet service. The community has several lodges catering to sportsmen.
