About Denali Fly Fishing Guides

Denali Fly Fishing Guides was founded in 2001 by Rick McMahan, a veteran whitewater guide who ran rivers including the Grand Canyon before settling in Alaska in the 1990s. The site bills it as the first fly fishing tour company in Denali, locally owned and operated by Alaskans.

Guides fish the Nenana River and its tributaries — Fish Creek, the Jack River, and Brushkana, Seattle, and Wells creeks among them — targeting Arctic grayling on trips from a half day to multi-day. Fishing is exclusively catch-and-release on barbless hooks with handcrafted flies of organic materials, beginners are welcome, and every guest gets a fly-casting lesson.
