Alaska brown bear (and interior grizzly bear) hunting is considered one of the premier big game experiences on earth. The Alaska Peninsula and Kodiak Island produce the world's largest brown bears. All non-resident brown/grizzly bear hunters must be accompanied by a licensed Alaska guide. Tags are available over-the-counter in most units, but success rates are variable and the experience is physically and mentally demanding.
