Glacier Bay Sport Fishing

Glacier Bay Sportfishing is run by Captain Mike Halbert, who has guided Southeast Alaska waters since 1985 and earned his Coast Guard passenger-carrying license in 1986. He founded the business as Explorations Northwest in Petersburg in 1987, moved it to Elfin Cove in 1989 and then to Gustavus in 1996, where it took its current name.

The operation runs fishing charters and whale-watching trips from Gustavus, near Glacier Bay. Halbert's philosophy is that a day on the water should be fun and full of discovery — showing off Southeast Alaska's land and waters rather than measuring the day only in fish caught.
