David and Angie Wrightson came to Southeast Alaska for a visit in 1990 and never left. They bought a boat, learned the waters around Hoonah, and built a veteran-owned tour business with an all-local crew based near Icy Strait Point on Chichagof Island.
The operation runs whale-watching and fishing charters, kayak trips and brown bear tours, operating in the Tongass National Forest under Forest Service special use permit. Its two custom boats, the Hoonah Bound and the Tail Chaser, were built specifically for whale watching, and cruise passengers get a back-to-ship-on-time guarantee.
