Klutina Salmon Charters

Klutina Salmon Charters is co-owned by Glenn and Jay McDowell, both schoolteachers in the off-season. Glenn has guided the Klutina for a decade and teaches elementary art; Jay, whose Alaska adventures began in the 1990s, teaches high school and has stepped back from active guiding. Guides Zach Taylor and Kyle Miller round out the crew.

The outfit runs raft-based charters for king and sockeye salmon on the Klutina and Gulkana rivers out of Copper Center, alongside a riverside campground with a deliberately family atmosphere — weekly potlucks and ice cream socials included. Trips accommodate all experience levels.
