Boat-based black and brown bear hunts around Sitka with Master Guide Dale Adams, guiding since 1988 and taking two or three hunters per trip.
Dale Adams moved to Sitka in 1986, longlined halibut and black cod and tendered salmon commercially, then began guiding in 1988 as an assistant under Ben Forbes. He and his wife Lori started Adams Alaskan Safaris in 1992; Dale holds a master guide license and has served three board terms with the Alaska Professional Hunters Association.
The outfit runs boat-based black bear and brown bear hunts — brown bear on Baranof and Chichagof islands — plus scenic cruises, permitted by the Tongass National Forest. Dale personally leads every trip and takes only two or three hunters at a time in the interest of fair chase, while Lori does most of the cooking, with produce from her own commercial garden.
