Double Shovel Outfitters
Remote ANWR and Yukon Flats hunts for caribou, moose and bear with Charlie Jagow, a pilot-guide raised on a family trapline in the Arctic Refuge.

About Double Shovel Outfitters
Double Shovel Outfitters is run by Charlie Jagow, a registered Alaskan guide born and raised in Fairbanks who grew up living a subsistence lifestyle in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge, running the family trapline by dog team and snowshoe in winter and working as an assistant guide in spring and fall. He bought his first airplane and earned his pilot's license at nineteen, then worked for established guides before founding Double Shovel in 2018 after earning his outfitter's license.
The outfit hunts caribou, moose, grizzly, and black bear in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge and Yukon Flats National Wildlife Refuge, with wolf as a secondary species. Jagow's stated measure of a quality hunt is not just success rates but remote country where no other hunting parties are encountered.

Season & Booking
Alaska hunting seasons vary significantly by Game Management Unit and species. Confirm current seasons with ADF&G and book well in advance — quality outfitters fill 6–18 months ahead for peak species. Non-residents must be accompanied by a licensed guide or qualifying Alaska resident for most big game species.
