About LaRose Guide Service

LaRose Guide Service is Gary LaRose's hunting and fishing operation based at Pumice Creek Lodge on the Alaska Peninsula, 86 air miles south of King Salmon. The outfit has been at it since 1967, and its Unit 9E moose hunts have averaged bulls of 62 to 64 inches over that run.

Hunts cover coastal brown bear in the May and October seasons and moose in Unit 9E, plus 'blast and cast' combinations pairing duck and Canada goose hunting with fishing for king salmon, red salmon, rainbow trout, and Arctic char. The lodge experience is billed as remote, rustic, and unspoiled, with comfortable accommodations and home-cooked meals.

Season & Booking

Alaska hunting seasons vary significantly by Game Management Unit and species. Confirm current seasons with ADF&G and book well in advance — quality outfitters fill 6–18 months ahead for peak species. Non-residents must be accompanied by a licensed guide or qualifying Alaska resident for most big game species.
