About Mileur's Guide Service

Mileur's Guide Service is a father-and-son operation. Scott Mileur, Alaska Registered Guide #527, was born and raised in Murphysboro, Illinois, moved to Alaska as a young man, and started guiding in 1979 after training under veteran Alaskan guides, building a long career as a Kodiak brown bear guide. His son Zane, born and raised in Palmer, earned his assistant guide license while in high school and his registered guide license at 27.

The pair run small camps hunting Kodiak Island for brown bear, mountain goat, Sitka blacktail deer, and reindeer, and the Alaska Range for moose and grizzly, with black bear and caribou also offered. They describe themselves as guides first, not just outfitters, hunting wild country fair chase and keeping client relationships close.

Season & Booking

Alaska hunting seasons vary significantly by Game Management Unit and species. Confirm current seasons with ADF&G and book well in advance — quality outfitters fill 6–18 months ahead for peak species. Non-residents must be accompanied by a licensed guide or qualifying Alaska resident for most big game species.
