About Mountain Monarchs of Alaska
Mountain Monarchs of Alaska was established in 1985 by Dave Leonard and his wife Suzanne. Leonard arrived in Alaska from Georgia in 1974 at age 17 as a packer and wrangler, earned his assistant guide license in 1976, his registered guide license in 1981, and a commercial pilot's license in 1982 — over 40-plus years of guiding he has logged more than 14,000 hours flying Super Cubs in the Alaska bush.
The outfit runs spring and fall brown bear and caribou hunts on the lower Alaska Peninsula out of Cold Bay, where it has operated since 2004, and Dall sheep, Arctic grizzly, moose, and black bear hunts in the central Brooks Range out of Bettles, where it has guided since 1992. Stated priorities are client safety and stewardship of the land and wildlife for sustainable hunting.
