Alaska big-game guide with 25 years packing and guiding for brown bear, sheep, moose and caribou — and the filmmaker behind Modern Day Mountain Man.
Billy Molls was raised on a Wisconsin dairy farm, trapped with his father and grandfather, and worked 80-hour weeks in a cheese factory to fund guide school in Montana and packer work in Idaho's Frank Church wilderness before reaching Alaska. He has spent 25 years as an Alaska big-game guide and packer, hunting brown and grizzly bear, Dall sheep, moose, caribou, wolf and wolverine in country from Kodiak Island to the Mulchatna and Nushagak drainages.
He also films his hunts — the Modern Day Mountain Man docuseries and the Trust The Guide series — saying he produces them as if he were sharing them with his grandpa, aiming to show what Alaska hunting is truly like. He offers hosted adventures, fishing trips and worldwide hunt consulting, and founded the Trust The Guide Christian ministry in 2020.
