About Anvik River Lodge

Anvik River Lodge is run by Cliff and Cheryl Hickson, who became partners in the lodge in 1996 after nearly 20 years in bush Alaska and bought it outright in 2006. Cliff is an accomplished fisherman and big game guide who has fished and hunted Alaska since the mid-1970s; Cheryl runs the lodge and the kitchen, cooking what she calls 'wilderness gourmet.' Their son Blair, with over 13 years of guiding, is preparing to take over the family business.

The lodge bills itself as Alaska's most remote full-service fishing lodge — the only lodge on the entire Anvik River, some 450 miles northwest of Anchorage with the nearest settlement 75 miles away — fishing silvers, pike, grayling, and char with no combat fishing.
