Bettles Lodge

Bettles Lodge sits 35 miles north of the Arctic Circle in Bettles, Alaska, 'serving the Arctic traveler since 1950.' The lodge was built by Wien Airlines — the outfit of pioneering bush pilot Noel Wien — as the first building in New Bettles after the community moved upriver, and it is listed on the National Historic Register as the first of the Wien lodges in Alaska.

Today it serves as a jumping-off point into the Brooks Range and Gates of the Arctic National Park, offering northern-lights viewing, dog sledding and cross-country skiing in winter, and fishing, backpacking, canoeing, rafting and flightseeing in summer, on both guided and unguided wilderness trips.
