Cold Bay Lodge was started by Bill and Mary Martin, who ran the Royal Coachman Lodge in Bristol Bay beginning in 1973 before converting former FAA buildings in Cold Bay into a lodge starting in 1998. Bill passed away in 2018, and the lodge is now run by the Martins' daughter Ann and grandson Michael.
The operation offers guided salmon fishing on nearby waters and doubles as the lodging hub for the surrounding Alaska Peninsula, hosting work travelers as well as anglers.
