About Denali Highway Cabins & Paxson Alpine Tours

Denali Highway Cabins & Paxson Alpine Tours is a small family-run operation at Paxson on the Gulkana River, roughly halfway between Denali and Wrangell–St. Elias national parks. Audie Bakewell — a geologist with a PhD in geochemistry and resource economics who came to Alaska in 1997 and worked as a naturalist at a Denali Highway lodge — bought the property in 1999 and runs it with Jenny Rodina, a former teacher and travel writer who grew up on a Minnesota farm.

Lodging spans log cabins, tent-cabins, and a cottage, with naturalist-guided trips offered through Paxson Alpine Tours and an emphasis on personalized attention.
