Goodnews River Lodge is the only full-service lodge on the three-fork Goodnews River system in the Togiak National Wildlife Refuge, 450 miles from Anchorage, with over 490 miles of fishable water and no crowds. A fleet of jet boats puts anglers on kings, sockeye, chum, silvers, leopard rainbows, Arctic grayling, and Dolly Varden from tidewater to the upper forks.
Owner Mike Gorton took his first paying clients at age 14, started guiding in Alaska at Iliamna in 1987, began guiding on the Goodnews in 1989, and bought the lodge in December 1996. Nicknamed 'The Riverkeeper' for his focus on a sustainable fishery, he is on site all season.
