About Whaler's Cove Lodge

Whaler's Cove Lodge sits on Killisnoo Island near Angoon, a site whose Tlingit name means "shelter from the wind" and which was once a whaling and fish-processing town. The Jacobson family bought the abandoned property in 1952; construction began in 1970, the lodge was founded as a formal partnership in 1977 by the Jacobsons and the Powers, and the first guests arrived in 1983.

Mark and Kristine Powers have owned and operated it since 2014. The all-inclusive program covers guided saltwater and freshwater fishing — halibut, silver salmon, and sablefish — plus kayak fishing and eco-tours, with gear, guides, fuel, and fish processing included, in calm waters with low angling pressure.
