Akook Arctic Adventures

Akook Arctic Adventures is a Kaktovik operation owned by Jack Kayotuk, a local Inupiaq guide who grew up traveling and living on and along the Arctic land and sea, in partnership with Steven Kazlowski, a marine biologist and wildlife photographer. The two have worked with the Barter Island polar bears for more than twenty years.

The outfit runs four-hour polar bear viewing boat tours and all-inclusive photography tours out of Kaktovik between late August and mid-October, and works to raise awareness of the polar bear and a rapidly changing Arctic through exhibits, publications, and educational presentations.
