49th Fathom Charters was established in 2017 by Captain Shelby, an Illinois native who grew up freshwater fishing with her brother, spent four years at DreamWorks Animation after a film-production degree, then moved to Juneau in 2013 and earned her Master's captain license.
The outfit runs small-group salmon and halibut trips and whale watching out of Juneau on two custom-welded aluminum sport fishing boats, the 35 ft Alaskan C Gal and the 32 ft Alaskan C Shel. Captain Toni, with over 40 years in the maritime industry, joined for the 2026 season.
