Bottom Line Charters is a Kirby family operation out of Ninilchik. Owner Ernie Kirby was introduced to halibut fishing on Cook Inlet in 1983 and started E & K Alaskan Charters in 1993 after an Air Force career; that business evolved into Bottom Line Charters. His son Bryan, a lifelong fisherman who earned his Coast Guard license in 2000, returned as captain in 2010 and bought the FV Viking Spirit in 2020, while Bryan's son Hunter deckhands as a third-generation operator and Dionne Kirby handles customer service and fish processing.
The fleet is a pair of 28-foot Alumawelds — FV Just Fish and FV Viking Spirit — running halibut, salmon, and rockfish/lingcod trips plus razor clam digging and bear viewing.
