Breakaway Adventures started running fishing charters out of Wrangell in 1989, added guided bear viewing at Anan in the early 1990s, then Stikine River jet boat tours, LeConte Glacier trips, and Petersburg excursions by the late 1990s. The company also runs water taxi service and boat rentals from its Front Street base.
The fleet includes a 26-foot heated fishing boat plus 16-foot Lund skiffs and canoes, and the company touts jet boat comforts it says it introduced locally — sliding glass windows, stand-up walk-in cabins, and forward-facing seats.
