Tongass on the Fly is guided by Lucas Mullen and Kevin Main, both Coast Guard-licensed captains. Mullen has over fifteen years guiding fly anglers and big-game hunters around Petersburg and also operates a commercial fishing vessel; Main grew up fly fishing in Colorado, moved north for good after a college steelhead trip to Southeast Alaska, and previously guided at a Bristol Bay fishing lodge.
The operation fly fishes the Tongass National Forest for spring steelhead, all five salmon species, sea-run cutthroat, and Dolly Varden, running half- and full-day trips by jet boat or floatplane and multi-day liveaboard trips aboard the Sally Girl, a 45-foot vessel that takes up to four anglers. All freshwater trips are 100 percent catch-and-release, fished under Leave No Trace principles.
