Silver Fin Guides is a walk-and-wade guide service on the lower Kenai Peninsula owned by Tyler Alward. Alward moved to Alaska in 2004 and started fishing salmon, met the service's previous owner Gary the following year, guided for him full-time from 2007 to 2010 and stayed on part-time before becoming owner of the family-run business. He has three sons he takes to the river regularly.
Instead of boat charters, trips fish from shore and river bank — half-day and full-day outings on the Anchor River, Deep Creek, Ninilchik and Kasilof rivers and the Homer Spit lagoon for king and silver salmon, steelhead and Dolly Varden, with groups of up to six.
