Taku Glacier Charters runs into Taku Inlet, a dramatic fjord 26 miles southeast of Juneau backed by the advancing Taku Glacier—one of the few glaciers in Alaska that is still growing. The inlet supports strong runs of king and sockeye salmon, and the remote setting offers wildlife viewing including mountain goats and brown bears along the surrounding ridgelines. Access is by motorboat or floatplane, giving the trip a wilderness character hard to match from downtown Juneau.
