Kake, Alaska
Kake is a Tlingit village on the northwest coast of Kupreanof Island, deep in the Tongass National Forest. The surrounding waters of Frederick Sound and Keku Strait host strong runs of king and coho salmon, plus halibut, rockfish, and Dolly Varden. Cathedral Falls Creek and Hamilton Creek are local favorites for stream fishing. Sitka blacktail deer are abundant in the surrounding old-growth forest, and black bears are commonly spotted along the shoreline. Accessible by daily seaplane from Juneau or by Alaska Marine Highway ferry, Kake remains largely undiscovered by sport anglers.
