Baranof Wilderness Lodge sits in Warm Springs Bay on the east side of Baranof Island, a floatplane ride from Sitka, in a bay named for natural hot springs the Tlingit have enjoyed for centuries. Owners Mike and Sally Trotter bring three decades of fishing, exploring, and outfitting in Alaska to the operation.
Guests fish both salt and fresh water — salmon, trout, halibut, and rockfish across dozens of bays, estuaries, streams, and lakes — from 24-foot cuddy-cabin cruisers and 16-foot aluminum skiffs, with Coast Guard licensed guides and all saltwater tackle provided. The Trotters' style is personal: they treat newcomers as friends they haven't met yet, and point to a 90% repeat-and-referral guest list as the proof.
