About No-See-Um Lodge

No-See-Um Lodge has been family-run on the Kvichak River since Jack Holman, newly arrived from upstate New York, bought the original cabin from an old Norwegian fisherman and welcomed his first guests in 1975. Caleb and Melissa — Melissa is the founders' niece — met working at the lodge and officially purchased it from her cousin in 2025; Caleb has guided in Alaska since 2004 and been at the lodge since 2008.

The lodge flies guests out daily to remote Bristol Bay and Katmai water for rainbow trout, salmon, and char, keeping groups small with a 4:1 guest-to-plane ratio and 2:1 guide ratio.

Background as described by the operator on their own website.
