Seasons on the Fly Lodge bills itself as "Alaska's Do It Yourself Fly Fishing Lodge," occupying its own island in the Kvichak River near Igiugig. The model is self-directed: guests fish when they want, from first light to dark, with boats provided and guided options available, targeting sockeye salmon, rainbow trout, lake trout, pike, and Arctic grayling in the surrounding watershed.

Greg Heister runs the operation and is upfront about the trade-off: rooms are comfortable rather than five-star, with a fully equipped kitchen and hot showers, in exchange for what the site calls your best chance to fish the region's salmon and trout water on a budget.
