Ashore Water Taxi

Ashore Water Taxi has run from the Homer Spit for over 20 years, operated by the Lyon family — Louise and Dave — and close friends. The lead captain is described on the site as a naturalist with an intuitive sense for wildlife, and the crew's background spans running skiffs, hiking and camping Kachemak Bay's trails, and climbing its peaks.

The service shuttles hikers, kayakers, and campers across Kachemak Bay to spots like Grewingk Glacier Lake and the Tutka Lake Trail, handles kayak drop-offs, and runs wildlife tours and custom trips. Their standing offer: if they don't go there, they'll help you find someone who does.
