About Saltwater Safari Company
Saltwater Safari Company is owned by Capt. Bob Candopoulos, who holds a Coast Guard Master license for vessels up to 100 gross tons, has 37 years of chartering out of Seward, and is credited on the site with pioneering the region's long-range fishing. Co-owner Capt. Bob Savino started with the company as a 15-year-old deckhand and earned his master license at 22; Capt. Noah Wamsteker joined in 2017 and got his master license in 2021.
The outfit runs three Delta Marine-built boats — the 53-foot Legend and Legacy and the 43-foot Renegade, added in 2022 — on full-day and long-range overnight trips for halibut, lingcod, rockfish, salmon shark, silvers, and kings. Guests can stay in company lodging from the Safari Lodge to a yurt campsite, with the office on the boardwalk at Seward's boat harbor.
