About Afognak Wilderness Lodge

Afognak Wilderness Lodge was founded in 1974 by homesteaders Roy and Shannon Randall, who hand-built the main lodge and three guest cabins from locally cut spruce on remote Afognak Island, 45 miles northwest of Kodiak. It remains a small, family-owned operation with a loyal base of repeat and referred guests.

Stays center on fishing, whale watching, and bear viewing in a pristine spruce-forest setting, with trips led by US Coast Guard licensed guides the lodge describes as careful stewards of the surrounding wilderness.
