About Alaskan Widespread Fishing Adventures

Alaskan Widespread Fishing Adventures was founded in 1993 by Captain Reubin Payne after two years immersed in Alaska's fishing grounds. Captain Mindy Payne, who grew up in a family deeply rooted in the Kenai River fishing community and has a background in environmental science, joined in 2003; both captains carry 35-plus years of fishing experience.

The operation runs guided freshwater and saltwater trips on the Kenai and Kasilof rivers and Cook Inlet — kings, silvers, sockeye, steelhead, rainbow trout and halibut — with lodging at three properties. Sustainability practices have been part of the program since 1998, including catch-and-release, and the stated approach is 'come as clients and leave as family or friends.'
