Alaska's Bearclaw Lodge sits on a 13-acre peninsula on Lake Aleknagik near Wood-Tikchik State Park in Bristol Bay. Founded in 1998 by John and Nancy Norman and later owned by Rob and Lisa Fuentes, it was purchased in December 2023 by Greg Heister, a sports broadcaster who also owns Seasons On The Fly Lodge on the Katmai side of Bristol Bay.
The lodge takes a maximum of ten guests a week in five rooms, fishing at a 1:2 guide-to-angler ratio for king, sockeye, and silver salmon, rainbow trout, arctic char, Dolly Varden, and grayling. Resident species are catch-and-release, salmon processing is included, and the atmosphere is pitched as relaxed and family-friendly.
