Mission Lodge stands on the shore of Lake Aleknagik at the edge of Bristol Bay, on grounds that began as a Seventh-day Adventist mission school — the Smith family arrived in 1930, and the main lodge building went up in 1965. Dale DePriest and friends took over the property in 1984, and Bristol Bay Native Corporation has owned the lodge since 2012, with operations representing local shareholders.
Today it is a luxury fly-out fishing lodge — fly-outs to Bristol Bay's wild salmon waters are included in packages, alongside spa services and upscale accommodations. The lodge says it has provided the "trip of a lifetime" for over thirty years.
