Driftwood Inn & Homer Seaside Lodges

The Driftwood Inn occupies a 1914 building that started life as a schoolhouse — one that owner Adrienne Sweeney's grandfather attended in the late 1920s — and was converted into an inn in 1941. Adrienne, a fifth-generation Alaskan, and her husband Alex bought the property in 2003, and their three daughters grew up helping run it.

Lodging spans small to large rooms, suites, cottages, modern seaside lodges, and RV sites, and the inn books fishing charters for guests through a local partner. The Sweeneys' stated values are integrity, goodwill, and hospitality — friendliest rather than fanciest — and Adrienne credits her great-grandparents, Lillian Walli and Hugh Watson, as the inspiration for how the place is run.
