Kodiak Sportsman's Lodge sits in Old Harbor on the southeast side of Kodiak Island, tucked behind Sitkalidak Island. The building has lived several lives: built as a movie theater in the 1960s after the 1964 Good Friday earthquake, it later ran as a pool hall and diner before seven local business partners converted it into an inn with fishing operations in the late 1990s. It operated as Sitkalidak Lodge before the current owners renamed it Kodiak Sportsman's Lodge.
Today it hosts up to 16 guests on all-inclusive packages — meals, lodging, guides, boats, tackle, and airfare — and owns four of the six sport fishing boats working a 30-mile stretch of protected water, fishing salmon, halibut, and sea bass, with Sitka blacktail deer hunts in season.
