About Mako's Water Taxi

Mako Haggerty spent 14 years as a commercial fisherman in Alaskan waters before starting Mako's Water Taxi in 1996. The service runs year-round across Kachemak Bay from Homer, dropping off hikers, campers and kayakers, hauling freight, running scenic tours and providing ship-to-shore support anywhere in the region.

Haggerty is a fixture in the Homer community, serving on civic boards including Cook Inlet Keeper and KBBI and as president of Friends of Kachemak Bay State Park.
